Advanced Micro Devices (
AMD) today announced the most recent addition to its AMD Geode™ NX family of high-performance, low-power processors, the AMD Geode NX 1250@6W* processor. Based on the x86 architecture, the new processor is designed for solutions that require long-term market commitment such as thin clients, printers, point of sale, information and transaction kiosks and telecommunications networking equipment. The AMD Geode NX 1250@6W processor is compatible with the AMD Geode NX 1500@6W* processor and AMD Geode NX 1750@14W* processor.
The Geode NX 1250@6W processor is based on an AMD Athlon™ core and demonstrates the company’s commitment to making enhancements to its x86 product offerings and delivering a full line of x86 products to market. The AMD Geode family of embedded solutions is part of AMD’s strategy to offer assets, resources and vision for extending x86 solutions from low-power embedded solutions up through the highest-performing server platforms. The Geode NX 1250@6W processor is a cost-effective solution for customers requiring sub-one gigahertz performance without a fan. Operating without a fan not only reduces design costs and allows for better power management, but also allows the processor to co-exist in virtually any environment because it can operate silently.
* The AMD Geode NX 1250@6W processor operates at 667MHz and is supported by the AMD Geode NX DB1500 development board. The Geode NX 1500@6W processor operates at 1GHz and is supported by the AMD Geode NX DB1500. The Geode NX 1750@14W processor operates at 1.4 GHz. Model numbers reflect performance as described here:

“Expanding our AMD Geode product family to include the Geode NX 1250@6W product provides extensive design options for customers needing a low-power, high-performance processor,” said Erik Salo, AMD’s director of marketing for the Personal Connectivity Solutions Group. “The addition of the AMD Geode NX 1250@6W processor gives our customers more options to innovate designs with a high-performance, fanless solution that is ideal for any environment from the home to the enterprise.”
The AMD Geode NX 1250@6W processor broadens the selection AMD’s customers have for x86 solutions that range from sub-one watt to 14 watts, allowing them to choose a processor that best meets their individual design needs.
