Alcatel will provide equipment for an expansion of broadband services in China's Anhui province, the French company announced Monday.
China Telecom subsidiary Anhui Telecom selected Alcatel to deploy its 7750 Service Router early next year, allowing offerings of "triple-play" broadband services for residential and consumer customers in seven major urban areas.
The upgrade will also allow Anhui Telecom to offer customers networking services such as virtual private networking at Layers 2 and 3 levels.
Alcatel said Anhui was the 23rd Chinese province to utilize its Internet Protocol solutions.
