Kroger expands ground beef recall to 20 states

(AP) -- First it was the tomatoes. Now it's the beef. Fourth of July picnic tables are getting a careful look as familiar hamburgers are feared to be among the tainted ingredients in separate food safety scares.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the Maramont Corporation has recalled 88 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Ground beef recalled in Tennessee
The U.S. Food and Inspection Service announced a recall of approximately 102 pounds of hamburger patties and bulk ground beef due to possible contamination.
Beef producers selling meat with E. coli
A loophole in U.S. regulations allows companies to sell meat that has come into contact with E. coli as long as it is cooked first.
Ground beef recalled in Utah and Nevada
The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of approximately 11,250 pounds of possible contaminated ground beef products.
Ground beef in Michigan is recalled
The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the voluntarily recall of about 26,669 pounds of ground beef products distributed in Michigan.
