In Brief: M1 chops its Singapore 3G broadband rates

Singapore's M1 said Monday it was lowering its 3G (third-generation) wireless broadband rates by 65 percent.

The new S$68 ($42) price tag for the SunSurf100 plan is a move to put wireless 3G service in the same market as its fixed-line service.

"We want to set a new price benchmark for wireless broadband access," M1 CEO Neil Montefiore said in a news release. "To this end, the attractive rates we are offering should help increase 3G adoption as well as data usage."

New SunSurf100 subscribers are being provided with a Vodafone Mobile Connect Card that brings wireless broadband to their laptops.
