Ground beef recalled in Utah and Nevada

The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of approximately 11,250 pounds of possible contaminated ground beef products.

Stone Meats Inc. of Pleasant View, Utah, initiated the voluntary recall because the ground beef products that were distributed in Utah and Nevada might contain pieces of metal.

Being recalled were 5-pound, 73 percent lean-27 percent fat packages of ground beef with a "sell-by" date of "09/19/07" and codes "EST#6214 7," "EST#6214 8," "EST#6214 9," or "EST#6214 10."

Asteroid Threatens to Hit Mars
Astronomers funded by NASA are monitoring the trajectory of an asteroid named 2007 WD5 that is expected to cross the orbital path of Mars early next year. Calculations by NASA's Near-Earth Object Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory indicate that the 164-ft wide asteroid may pass within 30,000 miles of Mars at about 6 a.m. EST on Jan. 30, 2008.
Managers to Discuss Atlantis Launch Today
The launch of NASA's space shuttle Atlantis will take place no earlier than Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3:43 p.m. EST. Thursday's scheduled liftoff from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., was postponed because of a problem with a fuel cutoff sensor system inside the shuttle's external fuel tank.
Space Shuttle Atlantis Arrives at Launch Pad
After safely reaching its launch pad Saturday at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the space shuttle Atlantis now awaits its next major milestone for the upcoming STS-122 mission. The full launch dress rehearsal is scheduled from Nov. 18 to 20 at Kennedy.
